N.C. A&T TO CELEBRATE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF SECOND MORRILL ACT
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is joining the nation’s other 18 historically black land-grant universities in organizing a slate of events to celebrate 125 years of providing access to all citizens through education, research and Cooperative Extension outreach.

Over 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University are expected to participate in this year’s weeklong National Engineering Week celebration, Feb. 22–28.
2015 REMBA CONFERENCE COMING IN APRIL
Registration is now open for the ninth annual Rehabilitation of Racial and Ethnic Minorities with Behavioral Addictions (REMBA) Conference, which will be April 16–17 at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
CashCourse webinar
Helping students better manage their money and organize their financial future is the focus of a CashCourse webinar for faculty and staff, scheduled for 10 a.m. and
3 p.m., Feb. 17, through the Collaborate Web conferencing system.

CAS Town Hall
The College of Arts and Sciences will host a town hall meeting for non-administrators Friday, Feb. 13, 3–5 p.m., in the General Classroom Building, room A116. The agenda includes discussion on university reorganization, restructuring of PTR and RPT, and an open forum.
FIRST TECH Challenge State Championship
The College of Engineering will host the FIRST TECH Challenge (FLL) State Championship Tournament this Saturday, Feb. 14, in Corbett Sports Center. The opening ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m.
This year’s theme is “Cascade Effect.” Over 32 teams of middle and high school students in grades 7-12, from across the state will compete using a sports model. Winners will advance to the FIRST TECH Challenge World Championship in St. Louis, Mo., in April.
The College of Engineering serves as the operational partner for North Carolina and manages all regional and state competitions for NC FIRST LEGO League and NC FIRST Tech Challenge. Entrepreneurship Counseling Clinics

Counseling Session 1 will be on the following Wednesdays: Feb. 18, March 18 and April 23, 1–2 p.m. and 2:30–3:30 p.m., in Merrick Hall, room 140. The counselors will be Sharonetta McIntyre, business counselor, and Bob Weston, director, from the Small Business and Technology Development Center.
Counseling Session 2 will be on Thursdays: Feb. 19, March 19 and April 29, noon to 1 p.m., in Merrick Hall, room 140. Shana Ayscue, president and CEO of STA Technologies LLC and SCORE Association (previously the Service Corps of Retired Executives), will be the counselor.
Chancellor’s Forums
The dates for this semester’s Chancellor’s Forum dates are Thursday, Feb. 19 (faculty and administrators), March 26 (students) and April 23 (staff). All forums are 3–5 p.m. in the Academic Classroom Building, room 101.
Closing Bell
The next School of Business and Economics Closing Bell Series lecture is Thursday, Feb. 19, at 4 p.m. in Merrick Hall, Deese Auditorium.
The guest speaker, John Hope Bryant, is founder, chairman and CEO of Operation Hope and is responsible for more than $2 billion of private capital supporting low-wealth home ownership, small businesses, entrepreneurship and community development investments in under-served communities across the U.S.

Spring Career Fair
The Spring Career Fair for students of all majors and classifications will be Thursday, Feb. 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Corbett Sports Center. Students are asked to dress well, bring their resumes and check in at the Student Registration Desk at the John Mitchell Drive main entrance to enter the door-prize drawing and pick up materials. FAFSA Day
The Student Financial Aid Office will host FAFSA DAY in conjunction with CFNC on Saturday, Feb. 28, 9 a.m. until noon, in the second floor computer lab in the General Classroom Building. Participants may register online at www.CFNC.org, and should bring with them two copies of their W-2 form and the student’s/parent’s federal income tax forms for 2014. Title IX information
A webpage has been created with information on Title IX and contact information for the N.C. A&T officials responsible for enforcement.
Under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, no one can be excluded from participation in or discriminated against on the basis of sex in programs or activities at educational institutions that receive federal funding. Sexual violence, harassment and/or misconduct are forms of sex discrimination.
A&T takes such matters seriously and will investigate complaints of violations of sexual misconduct.
Measles vaccinations
The Student Health Center and N.C. A&T Emergency Management remind students, faculty and staff that the best way to protect themselves, loved ones and the community from measles is through vaccination. A&T requires students to be vaccinated, but it’s also critical for children and for adults. The illness is extraordinarily contagious and can have serious side effects, especially for pregnant women. “Exit Discrimination in the NFL: A Duration Analysis of Career Length,” a paper by Dr. Johnny Ducking, assistant professor in the Department of Economics, has been published in The Review of Black Political Economy.
“Felt discrimination increases offensiveness of stereotyped outgroup depictions,” an article by co-authors, Drs. Roland L Leak (left), Omar P. Woodham (center) and George W. Stone (right) of the School of Business and Economics, has been published in the Journal of Consumer Marketing (Vol. 32, No. 1, pp. 26-33, 2015).
Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. is a co-recipient of the Thomas Z. Osborne Award, which is presented to a citizen who has demonstrated extraordinary service and achievement within the community. It is the highest honor given by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and is presented jointly with Duke Energy. Martin received the award with UNCG Chancellor Linda Brady. They were cited for their work at their respective universities and their unprecedented teamwork and collaboration on projects such as the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, Opportunity Greensboro and Union Square Campus. Martin and Brady were among the three individuals honored for community leadership at the 2015 Annual Dinner of the Greensboro Partnership.
“‘Comm-Uni-versity,’ A Professional Development Model on Building Inter-institutional Global Leadership,”a manuscript by Dr. Jerono P Rotich, associate professor in the Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies, School of Education, along with co-authors Mutisya and Bitting, has been accepted for publication in the Journal for the Advancement of Educational Research.
“Partnering With Nonprofits: Can Collaboration Selling Maximize Earnings and Social Impact?” – a case study by Dr. Jakki Williams – has been accepted by the South East Case Research Association (SECRA) for presentation and discussion at the 23rd Annual Meeting of SECRA, which will be held Feb. 19–21, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Williams is an associate professor in the Department of Marketing, Transportation and Supply Chain, School of Business and Economics.
