VOTE to ‘Retool Your School’

North Carolina A&T State University is participating in The Home Depot Retool Your School Campus Improvement Grant Program that provides support for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to fund improvement projects on their campuses. This year, $255,000 will be awarded across nine HBCUs. Click here for details.

Winning will allow N.C. A&T to expand last year’s plan designed by our landscape architecture students and create an eco-friendly green space in the area between the Science Building, Sockwell Hall and Smith Hall. The addition of trees, flowers, benches and fountains will tie the existing student sidewalks into one connected walkway that extends to John Mitchell Drive.

Help A&T win the Retool Your School grant by voting once daily from your desktop, laptop and mobile devices by visiting www.retoolyourschool.com/vote-now/ and encourage your friends, relatives and co-workers to join us. You can also vote on social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) by including the hashtag #NCAT_RYS15 in your posts. Online voting ends April 20 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Data breach

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield was the target of an external cyber attack in December and January. Systems at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC), which serves as the third party administrator for the State Health Plan, were not breached. However, approximately 22,000 former and current State Health Plan members who live in or receive care in other Anthem states have been impacted. Anthem operates in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The information accessed may have included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health care ID numbers, home addresses, email addresses and employment information, including income data.

Beware of scam email campaigns targeting current and former Anthem members and designed to capture personal information (known as “phishing”). Messages are designed to appear as if they are from Anthem and the emails include a “click here” link for credit monitoring. These emails are NOT from Anthem. Do not reply to the email or reach out to the sender in any way, do not provide any information on the website that may open, if you have clicked on a link in email, and do not open any email attachments that arrive with email.

Anthem is not calling members regarding the cyber attack and is not asking for credit card information or Social Security numbers over the phone. For more guidance on recognizing scam email, visit the FTC website. For additional information, visit the BCBSNC website or www.anthemfacts.com, or call the Anthem hotline at 877-263-7995.
