UNIVERSITY ISSUES MORATORIUM ON DRONES

To protect the safety, security and privacy of students, employees and campus visitors, North Carolina A&T State University has issued a moratorium on the use of drones on and above campus property, according to a memorandum from University Police Chief Charles Wilson to the university community on Oct. 1.more

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is committed to assisting all members of the community in providing for their own safety and security. Click here to view the 2015 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report that is available on N.C. A&T’s website.

 

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety, including topics such as crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. There is also information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings and property owned or controlled by N.C. A&T, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

 

This information is required by federal law known as the Clery Act, and is provided by the University Police Department (UPD). To receive a printed copy of the report stop by the UPD, located at 406 Laurel Street, or call 336-334-7128 to request a copy be mailed to you.

Limited edition 125th anniversary painting

Visual artist Richard D. Wilson Jr.—who uses reality and creativity to produce images that reflect the beauty in the world around him—will unveil his new painting commemorating the 125th anniversary of North Carolina A&T State University at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at University Galleries (Dudley Building). Limited edition giclees will be available. Other pieces chosen by the artist will be on display Oct. 9–31. This event is free and open to the public. For information contact Gregory J. Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Office of Undergraduate Research will present the Fall 2015 Undergraduate Research Symposium at 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, in the Academic Classroom Building. The symposium will include the following sessions: Internships at Research Triangle Institute (RTI); Succeeding as an Undergraduate; and College Survival Tips for First Year Students. There also will be a poster scavenger hunt and poster competition with prizes awarded. Faculty and staff are invited to witness the scholarly activities and experiences of undergraduates, and engage them in conversation. For more information contact: Dr. Tonya R. Alumni wall of fame

School of Education alumni are asked to submit photographs for the Alumni Wall of Fame that will be displayed in conjunction with the school’s “A Taste of the Triad: Then and Now” event, 2–4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the lobby of Proctor Hall. 

 

Along with the 2015 Greatest Homecoming on Earth and in celebration of N.C. A&T’s 125th anniversary, “A Taste of the Triad: Then and Now” will reflect the university’s culture over the past 125 years. Send one “then” (as a student) and one “now” (current) photograph to: Melody Haithcock, N.C. Academic restructuring survey

In an attempt to engage the university community in the decision-making process, a survey is being conducted on the university's restructuring efforts. Dr. Linda Silver Coley, associate professor of marketing and supply chain management in the Department of Marketing, Transportation and Supply Chain, School of Business and Economics, has co-authored the book, “Supply Chain Management for the Curious: Why Study Supply Chain Management?” The book is designed to increase global awareness of supply chain management careers, promote undergraduate and graduate interest in the major and enhance enrollment among the featured universities.

 

The work is a collaboration among professors in the United States (i.e., Appalachian State University, Columbia University, Louisiana State University, Loyola University, North Carolina State University and Virginia Commonwealth University), Australia, Canada and Europe. Coley is first author and member of the advisory and editorial board. The editor in chief is Dr. Kishor Vaidya, University of Canberra (Australia). 

Dr. Jerono Rotich, professor and interim chair of the Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies, co- presented the following presentations at the Eighth Kenya Scholars & Studies Association Annual Conference that convened at the University of North Alabama in Florence, Sept. 4–5: (1) “Criminalizing the athletes and glorifying the agents: A Case Study of Doping Allegations in Kenyan Athletic Environment”; (2) “Women in selected Sector Leadership roles in Kenya: Status, Challenges and Opportunities”; (3) “Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program” and (4) “Other Global Outreach Education Programs: Experiences and Lessons”
