Chancellor, Alumnus Inducted into the 2014 National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame

Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. will be honored by the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame on September 26, in Atlanta, Ga. Martin will be inducted and celebrated for his accomplishments as a champion in the field of education. He became the first alumnus to serve as the chief administrator at N.C. A&T on June 8, 2009. Martin provides visionary leadership that establishes long range strategic plans in consultation with various constituencies, asserts tactical leadership to develop innovative approaches for expansion resources, and ensures the fiscal and academic vitality of all colleges and schools. One of his current goals is to make A&T a preeminent institution of higher learning by the year 2020. Alumnus Dr. Haywood L. Brown will also be inducted in the field of medicine.

The Alumni Hall of Fame Weekend will be hosted at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Sept. 24-28 and will include a host of events and activities including the Competition of Black College Queens, HBCU Golf Tournament, Legacy of Leaders Alumni Awards Luncheon and Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Other inductees include: Dr. Catana Starks, Tennessee State University – Athletics; Hardy K. Dorsey, Sr., Lincoln University – Community Service; Will Packer, Florida A&M University – Entertainment; Bishop Dale C. Bronner, Morehouse College – Faith & Theology; Mayor Edna Branch Jackson, Savannah State University – Government/Law; Dr. Ruth Simmons, Dillard University and Dr. Gladys Hope Franklin White, Hampton University – Lifetime Achievement; and Dr. C.T. Vivian – Chairman’s Ward.
