Over Three Hundred Recruiters Coming to A&T Career Fair

The Office of Career Services (OCS) at North Carolina A&T State University will host the annual Spring Career Fair on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Corbett Sports Center.

Joyce Edwards, executive director of career services and experiential learning, has worked with the fair for over 30 years and said that there are a lot of new companies that will be represented at the spring fair.

Over 98 companies and roughly 350 recruiters will fill up 124 booths on the upper level of Corbett gymnasium. Career Counselor Zebedee Talley III said, that the best way to navigate the many employment opportunities is to research prospective jobs ahead of time. Career fair attendees can access the full list of companies on the career fair website or by scanning the QR code on the bottom of the Spring Career Fair flyer.

“The key is research. Students have to do some due diligence and understand exactly what their major can do and what different areas they can work in,” Talley said.

“(Take) those areas and then (ask) yourself how those areas fit into the organizations that are represented. If you use that formula I guarantee there’s a company there that everybody can talk to,” he said.

The Spring Career Fair is open to all degree seeking students and guests who have received a degree from a four-year college or university. Approximately 2,500 job seekers registered for the Fall Career Awareness Fair held at North Carolina A&T in September 2013. OCS anticipates between 2,200 to 2,500 attendees on Feb. 20.

Along with the fair, recruiters have scheduled interview sessions that will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 21.

“Students can start signing up for interviews,” Talley said.

By reviewing the list of companies, conducting research and signing up for interviews ahead of time students have multiple opportunities to prepare for the fair.

“It makes the fair a lot more of an efficient event if you’ve already done that,” he added.

The check-in and student registration desk will be set-up at the John Mitchell Drive entrance of Corbett Sports Center. Parking will be available in the Laurel Street Parking Deck, the Luther Lot on Benbow Road and at the Aggie Stadium.
