Four New Trustees Named

Four new members of the N.C. A&T Board of Trustees have been named by the UNC Board of Governors.

John W. BlufordJohn W. Bluford, retired president and CEO, Truman Medical Centers, Kansas City, Missouri. He is a former chairman of the American Hospital Association and of the National Association of Public Hospitals. Bluford has been recognized as one of America's most influential healthcare executives by Modern Healthcare magazine. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a BA from Fisk University. He is the grandson of Ferdinand D. Bluford, third president of N.C. A&T (1925–1955).

Venessa HarrisonVenessa Harrison of Charlotte, president of AT&T North Carolina. She is responsible for the company’s public policy, economic development and community affairs work in the state. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix.

 

Donna Scott James '79Donna Scott James ’79 of Columbus, Ohio, managing director of Lardon & Associates, a business consulting firm in Columbus, Ohio. James advises business executives on governance, new business development, strategy, financial and risk management, and leadership development. She serves on numerous corporate boards, including Time Warner Cable. In 2011, President Obama appointed her chairwoman of the National Women’s Business Council.

Timothy King '76Timothy King ’76 of Wake Forest, retired vice president of Dow Chemical Co. In his 34-year career with Dow, King held roles in sales, marketing, purchasing and business operations. He served as a leader of several global businesses and corporate functions.


The new trustees succeed Spence Broadhurst, Pamela Buncum, Karen Collins and Patricia Zollar.

Two more trustees will be appointed by Gov. Pat McCrory.
