Aggie Football Gets a New Radio Team

North Carolina A&T Athletics has entered a partnership with DWCommunications to broadcast N.C. A&T football games over the radio for the 2015 season. The Aggie Sports Network will consists of WBRF 98.1 FM and WEAL 1510 AM. Fans can also catch the games by downloading the TuneIn Radio app and conducting a search for 1510 AM. There will also be a Listen Live button on ncataggies.com.

WBRF 98.1 broadcasted the Shaw and Elon games live. WEAL 1510 will broadcast the remaining games live.

Donal Ware, the host of the nationally syndicated show “From the Press Box to Press Row,” will handle the play-by-play. He takes over for legendary play-by-play man Spencer Gwynn after the beloved radio announcer retired in 2014 after 50 years on the air. His broadcast partner and analyst will be former Aggie football player Al Swann. Swann enters his third year as the Aggies color man. Billy Covington, a 17-year veteran of the radio booth, will be the pregame, halftime and postgame hosts for A&T’s five home games.

“I am excited and nervous at the same time,” said Ware. “To be the play-by-play man for North Carolina A&T football is truly an honor when you think about the great history of Aggie football and the prominence the institution holds in the community and worldwide. You’re talking about doing radio for the largest historically black college in the nation with one of the most fervent fan bases in Division I FCS football.

It is also a nervous time having to fill the shoes of someone who has been a staple of Aggie football for so long in Spencer Gwynn.”
