Middle College at N.C. A&T Recognized for Perfect Graduation Rate

The Middle College at North Carolina A&T State University was one of 10 Guilford County Schools recognized on Oct. 6 by Superintendent June Atkinson of the Public Schools of North Carolina for posting an outstanding graduation rate for the 2014-15 school year.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Middle College posted a graduation rate of 100 percent.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for these schools and for Guilford County Schools,” said Superintendent Maurice “Mo” Green. “I am proud of the work we are doing to help every student reach this important milestone and grateful to the teachers, administrators and students who continue to push for excellence.”

Greensboro College Middle College, Weaver Academy, The Academy at Smith, The Early College at Guilford, The Middle College at UNCG, Penn-Griffin School for the Arts, The Middle College at GTCC-Greensboro and The Academy at High Point Central also posted perfect graduation rates with Northwest High posted a graduation rate of 96.6 percent.

The state recognized 11 North Carolina school districts and 60 schools for their graduation rates. This is the seventh consecutive year Guilford County Schools set a new record in terms of its high school graduation rate at 89.3 percent.

Established in 2003, the Middle College at A&T is a collaborative effort of the Guilford County Schools and North Carolina A&T State University. The all-male high school was created to offer an alternative setting to male students who struggled in the traditional classroom setting and were at risk for dropping out.
