N.C. A&T Ranked in Top 10 Best Colleges for African Americans

North Carolina A&T State University has been ranked No. 9 in the first-ever list of “50 Best Colleges for African American Students” by the editors of MONEY and Essence Magazines.

The list places N.C. A&T among Ivy League schools, large public institutions and historically black colleges and universities.

"The top ten ranking of the Best Colleges of African Americans is a reflection of N.C. A&T’s faculty, staff, and students’ commitment to success pre and post-graduation,” said Provost Joe B. Whitehead. “It is great to be recognized by MONEY and Essence Magazines as N.C. A&T fulfills it land-grant mission as a societal difference maker.”

Rankings are based on data collected for MONEY’s annual “Best Colleges for Your Money” feature and the MONEY College Planner website for black students. The group of editors analyzed more than 1,500 four-year colleges to select institutions based on four key factors: African American graduation rates, affordability, graduates’ earnings potential and campus diversity. Also included in the formulation of the list were the expressions of both students and faculty who spoke about their experiences at the institutions.

The list was devised to help parents and students make more informed and strategic decisions regarding their higher education choices and selections.
