The Alumni Times - N.C. A&T State University Alumni Newsletter

Greetings Fellow Alumni,

I was honored to officially represent the National Alumni Association and our 55,000 alumni on Tuesday, October 11, when President Barack Obama visited North Carolina A&T State University.  When the press release went out that the 44th President of the United States was coming to A&T, the news spread like wildfire.  There was unprecedented excitement about the taping of ESPN’s, The Undefeated, “A Conversation with the President: Sports, Race & Achievement”.  It was a proud day for all Aggies and another outstanding testament to our university’s preeminence.

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge fellow alumni who recently received national recognition for their dedicated service to our alma mater and excellence in their respective professions.  The National Black College Alumni (NBCA) Hall of Fame honored the following Aggies during their annual event in Atlanta, GA, on September 23:

NBCA Hall of Fame Inductees

  • Al (Alvin) Attles ’60 – Golden State Warriors; former player, National Championship Coach and General Manager
  • Bishop George W. Brooks ‘73 – Pastor Emeritus of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Greensboro, North Carolina

NBCA Legacy of Leaders Awards

  • Atlanta Chapter – 2016 Large Alumni Chapter of the Year
  • Travis P. Jackson ‘11 – Emerging Leader
  • Dan Ford ‘90 – Chairman’s Legacy of Leaders

Please join me in congratulating these outstanding Aggies.

We are counting down to the 2016 edition of The Greatest Homecoming on Earth.   Visit the homecoming website for information about all of the events scheduled for the week leading up to the big game.  Also, be sure to purchase your tickets for The Official Alumni Homecoming After Party, Saturday, October 29, at 9 p.m.  You don’t want to miss it!

Lastly, please continue to keep the families of Alisia Dieudonne and Ahmad Campbell in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve the tragic loss of their precious children, loved ones, and “bright stars” in our Aggie family.

With Aggie Pride,

Pam McCorkle Buncum '81
