HBCU Entrepreneur Summit and Connection Tour to Stop at A&T

Entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful forces for economic and social value creation. Entrepreneurs create new opportunities for individuals, organizations and society, however it’s more than just an inclination; it must be taught.

As part of Homecoming 2016, N.C. A&T will host the HBCU Entrepreneurship Connection Summit and Tour Closing Bell Session, from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Merrick Hall Auditorium.

The summit will show students examples of ownership and create an environment of networking and possibly mentoring opportunities for students as they move forward toward graduation and their professional and personal goals.

Attendees will gain access and knowledge from successful and early-stage entrepreneurs, explore possible internship and career opportunities, network and learn how entrepreneurship benefits the economy and the overall African American community.

The event will include a question and answer session as well as a breakout and networking mixer. The summit will feature A&T alumni entrepreneurs including moderators Tanya Simmons Reid, president, Vanessa Blake Cosmetics and Marvin Talbert, head of marketing and brand management, SolarWorld Americas; and panelists Kevin Gray, president, GSG Investments and partner of GFS Global yield fund; Angela McNeil, president and CEO, Work Hard Play Hard Transportation; Ronnie Isaac, president, Isaac Engineering, LLC; Doug Speight, president and CEO Cathedral Leasing; Gretchen Fuller, president, Warner Fuller Consulting LLC; Antoine Smith, chairman and CEO, Smith Gruppe; Rhonda Mayo, Talk of the City Event Planning and Marketing Solutions; Edward McDonald, Cornerstone Dentistry PC; Herb Gray, CEO, Life Enhancement Services; and Bradley Walton, CEO JBL Technologies.

In addition to educating aspiring entrepreneurs, a bigger strategy of the event is to raise business ownership awareness for students across A&T and grow current business owners.

Free and open to the public, a reception will follow the event for one hour in Craig Hall, room 132.
