Stikeleather Wins Weekly Pitching Honor

After registering both a save and a win last week senior, Josh Stikeleather, earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference co-pitcher of the week, as announced by the conference office on March 19.

“I am happy that Josh was recognized for his impact on our club,” said N.C. A&T coach Ben Hall. “He has worked extremely hard to have the success he’s having. He is an intricate piece of our pitching staff.”

Stikeleather led the Aggies on the mound, allowing no runs or hits in seven innings while striking out seven in two appearances. He picked up the save, his second of the season, against Presbyterian, tossing a hitless ninth inning. He followed that up with 3.2 scoreless innings of relief against St. Bonaventure. In this outing, he struck out seven and didn’t allow a hit before picking up the win.

The right-hander leads the conference in two saves and ranks 140th nationally. His nine pitching appearances rank ninth amongst the MEAC. In nine appearances this season, Stikeleather has a 0.60 ERA, 19 strikeouts, two saves and a (1-0) record in 15 innings pitched. For Stikeleather, it is first career conference weekly honor, and the first weekly pitching honor for the Aggies thus far in the 2018 season.
