Faculty Senate meeting

The Faculty Senate will meet Tuesday, April 28, at 3 p.m., in the Academic Classroom Building, room 101. The meeting can be viewed live and afterward by clicking here. Faculty members are encouraged to go online before the meeting to ensure you’re able to view the presentation. Online viewers can post questions during the meeting.

Boys basketball camp

Registration is now open for basketball camps for boys, ages 7 to 14. The focus will be on fundamental skills taught through individual instruction and a variety of drills. The camp will be Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m., at Corbett Sports Center. The nonrefundable cost to attend is $110, if paid before June 15, and $125 after. Girls basketball camps

This summer, the Lady Aggies will host three basketball camps for girls. Athletes in grades 9–12 who are looking to elevate their game are invited to Elite Camp on June 21. Younger athletes, grades 2–9, are invited to work on fundamental skills and basketball knowledge at Day Camp, July 13–16.

 

High school teams (grades 9–12) that want to grow together and compete against high-level offseason competition are invited to Team Camp, June 27–28. Click here for more information and to register. More information: Jessica Smith,

Volleyball camp

Summer Volleyball Camp will be held July 17–19 at Moore Gym. Camp is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 18. The cost to register is $250 for resident campers and $200 for commuters ($20 off for N.C. A&T faculty and staff and $20 off for eight players or more from the same team). Click here for details.

Spring professional development course offerings

The spring professional development course offerings, sponsored by the Division of Human Resources - Center for Leadership and Organizational Excellence (CLOE), target four areas designed to enhance workforce development capabilities: Organizational Culture, Results Orientation, Leadership, and Compliance. Dr. Marvin Hall

Dr. Marvin Hall, Department of Psychology, was a panelist and seminar presenter at the Behavioral Health Fair Summit, Building a Community of Wellness Together, at Greensboro College on April 16.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Luba KurkalovaDr. Luba Kurkalova, professor in the Department of Economics and the Department of Energy and Environmental Systems, has published a paper, “Cost-Effective Placement of Best Management Practices in a Watershed: Lessons Learned from Conservation Effects Assessment Project,” in the Journal of the American Water Resources Association, April 2015, 51(2), pp. 359-372.

Dr. Laquanda Leaven

Dr. Laquanda Leaven, assistant professor in the Department of Marketing, Transportation and Supply Chain, School of Business and Economics, was selected as a 2015 University of North Carolina Instructional Innovation Incubator (i3@UNC) fellow. i3@UNC is a summer workshop and fellowship program for developing new online and blended courses that improve learning outcomes and expand educational opportunities for North Carolinians. 

Dr. Jerono P. RotichDr. Jerono P. Rotich, associate professor in the Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies, presented a paper, “Global Understanding Course at an HBCU: A Strategy for Motivating Students to Study Abroad,” at the 2015 North Carolina Association of International Educators Conference at UNC-Chapel Hill in March.

 

 

Dr. Shengbin Wang

Dr. Shengbin Wang, assistant professor in the Department of Marketing, Transportation and Supply Chain, is one of three faculty from around the country selected by the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington’s Global Business Center to receive a UW MSI Case Writing Grant to develop more internationally focused business cases. The Foster Global Business Center and the Foster Consulting and Business Development Center are partnering with Wang on this Minority Business Case Development Project that will focus on Greater China. Wang recently traveled to Seattle to begin the project.
