The North Carolina A&T State University community will celebrate the institution’s quasquicentennial at the annual Founders Day Convocation at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, in the Richard B. Harrison Auditorium. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Blannie E. Bowen.

The Joint Master of Social Work (JMSW) degree program at North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro has been ranked at No. 13 by Best Social Work Programs.com for its 50 Most Affordable Accredited MSW Programs in the East 2016.
2016 GIBBS LECTURES SET FOR MARCH 31 AND APRIL 1

The Annual Gibbs Lecture and Student Conference will be held March 31–April 1. This year’s theme is “Honoring Aggie Veterans (Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff) during the 125th Anniversary of North Carolina A&T State University.”
Limited Parking
Due to scheduled events, there will be limited parking Feb. 26–28 at Lot 17 (Alumni-Foundation Event Center), and March 3 at Lot 17, Lot 39 (Student Health Center) and Lot 6 (Campbell Hall). Lot 6 will be limited due to the N.C. A&T Aggies vs. NCCU Eagles basketball games.
Small Farms Week
The Cooperative Extension Program at North Carolina A&T State University observes a milestone anniversary this year with the 30th Annual Small Farms Week (SFW) celebration, scheduled for March 20–26. N.C. A&T, a land-grant institution with a mission of agricultural education and outreach, was founded in 1891 and is celebrating the 125th anniversary of that origin this year. This year’s theme is “Our Pride, Our Future: North Carolina Small Farmers.”
SFW is an annual observance of small-scale agriculture and the farmers that produce it. Activities will include farm tours, workshops on land retention, vegetable production, pastured poultry and season-extension practices, and the 2016 North Carolina Small Farmer of the Year will be announced.
ISAF Workflow Change
Effective April 1, the N.C. A&T will implement a change to the current workflow for the Internal Salary Authorization Form to improve the overall operational effectiveness of the university’s payroll process. To facilitate this change, two informational workshops will be held in Room 410, Fort IRC Building, room 410: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, and 3 p.m. Monday, March 21. Website Pages Demo
University Relations and Information Technology Services will host a demonstration of the web-based faculty and staff pages currently being developed. The pages will allow each employee a web presence that includes her/his expertise, research, projects, educational background and brief biographical information. Faculty and staff are invited to attend the demo and provide feedback at 3-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, in the Proctor Hall Auditorium, room 160.
All website content coordinators of colleges, schools, divisions and departments are required to attend the demonstration, and website content contributors are strongly encouraged to attend. Please RSVP to Yvonne Halley.
Bookstore Inventory Closure
The Barnes & Noble Bookstore at N.C. A&T will be closed for its annual physical inventory on Wednesday, March 9. During the spring break, the bookstore will be open 8 a.m.–5 p.m., March 7–8 and March 10–11, and 10 a.m.–4 p.m., March 12.
First Responders’ Basketball Tournament
The University Police Department will participate in a basketball tournament with other local first responders to benefit the Special Olympics of North Carolina. The tournament begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 19, in Corbett Sports Center. There will be a half court, three-point shot and free-throw competition during halftime of the championship game. Prizes include a PS4 and more. Admission is $5 for individuals 10 years of age and older. The fee to participate in the halftime competitions is $5 each. Golf Challenge
As part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, the University Police Department will partner with Elon University officials to host the second annual Aggie/Phoenix Golf Challenge at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Crooked Tree Golf Course in Browns Summit. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The cost to participate is $240 for a four-person team. The fee includes entry to all events, 18 holes of golf, riding cart, lunch, a Special Olympics shirt per golfer and awards.
There will be door prizes, a raffle, several contests and an awards banquet. Lunch and the awards ceremony will follow the day of golf. Golf attire is required (collared shirts and slacks). No steel spikes allowed. All participants must be at least 7 years old.

Aggie Football 2016
The Aggies football schedule for 2016 has been released with the team hosting only four of 11 games at Aggie Stadium. On Sept. 3, the Aggies open the fall season at St. Augustine’s (Raleigh). The first home game is Oct. 1, when the Aggies play Hampton. For Homecoming, Oct. 29, the Aggies take on Florida A&M. Other home games include Hampton, Oct. 1; Norfolk State, Oct. 8; and S.C. State, Nov. 5. Away games include Kent State, Sept. 10; Tulsa, Sept. 17; Bethune-Cookman, Oct. 15; Howard, Oct. 22; Delaware State, Nov. 12; and N.C. Central, Nov. 19.
The annual Blue & Gold Spring Game will be April 16, at Aggie Stadium.

Survey
The Wabash-Provost Scholars, a group of undergraduates trained to conduct research on issues of strategic importance to the university, wants all faculty members to provide feedback regarding the advising process. The results will inform and precipitate any needed changes to the process. Please complete the brief survey online by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 1. 125 Service Projects
As a land-grant university, N.C. A&T has a special responsibility to strategically partner with groups and individuals locally, nationally and globally to make a lasting, positive impact on social and environmental challenges that proactively respond to the needs of others. As an extension of the university’s commitment, and as part of the university’s 125th anniversary observance, a challenge has been issued to all students, alumni, faculty and staff to actively participate in a service project in their respective communities. Dr. Paula E. Faulkner, associate professor in the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education, has published an article, “Rural and Urban North Carolina Parents’ Child Feeding Behaviors,” in the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences (Vol. 108, Issue 1, 2016). The article was co-authored with Ralph Okafor, Kayla Brooks and Dr. Patricia Lynch.
“Exploring Regression Models for Forecasting Early Cost Estimates for High-Rise Buildings,” a paper by Dr. Andrea N. Ofori-Boadu, has been published by The Journal of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (Vol. 31, No. 5, Dec. 2015). Ofori-Boadu is an assistant professor of construction management in the Department of Built Environment.
