Every two weeks, the North Carolina A&T Athletics Department will highlight one student athlete who is excelling in the classroom on its YouTube channel in a segment called, “Aggie Academic Spotlight.” The spotlights began with Aggie starting quarterback Lewis Kindle.
The word quarterback conjures up images of a hero, a superstar or the most popular guy on campus. A quarterback often gets the majority of the publicity and news coverage. His every move, good, bad or indifferent, is often critiqued heavily.
Outside of all the glitz and glamour of the position, a quarterback must be intelligent, he must be willing to learn new things quickly and he must be a leader. Kindle is becoming all those things on and off the field.
This past season, he threw for more than 2,020 yards and 16 touchdowns. Kindle, an English major from Atlanta, also posted a grade point average better than 3.0 grade for the fall semester.
Kindle is not only getting attention for the passes he throws, but for the classes he passes. What a treat it must be for head coach Rod Broadway to have his quarterback leading by example in the huddle and the classroom.
Take a look at Kindle’s video to hear about his achievement in his own words.
