North Carolina A&T State University Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. has received the Influential Black Alumni award during the Black Alumni Reunion at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Martin earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.
Martin was one of several alumni awarded in six categories. He received his award for career achievement.
Martin is the 12th chancellor of N.C. A&T. Before taking that position in 2009, he spent time as the senior vice president for academic affairs for the UNC system, the chancellor at Winston Salem State University and several positions at A&T including chair of the department of electrical engineering, dean of the College of Engineering and vice chancellor of academic affairs.
