A Group of A&T Students Spent Spring Break Helping Others

Dr. Chi Anyansi-Archibong, professor of Strategic and International Management, traveled to southern Belize with eight students during Spring Break, March 2-9, for a week of service learning.

The students worked with community small businesses and entrepreneurs in workshops to help them start new or to help grow existing operations. Anyansi-Archibong made a similar trip with 11 students last year.

This year, students had the opportunity to work with 14 new businesses and meet with some of last year’s participants. In addition to the workshops, students also worked to restore an old gymnasium for at-risk children in the city.

“We cannot internationalize nor globalize our students and faculty by just teaching global concepts in the classroom. We must develop opportunities for all to step outside of the shores of the United States,” she said.

This class is open to all students and is designed for the purpose of International Service learning and is an extension of the effort to globalize A&T students to make them more globally competitive and meeting the 2020 mission of the university.
