A&T Honors Retirees

On June 7, North Carolina A&T State University said farewell to 38 faculty and staff members who represent a combined 822 years of service with a reception, dinner and recognition ceremony.

Donald G. Brandon, research operations manager in the biology department and Dr. Chung Yu, professor of electrical and computer engineering are both retiring with 37 years of service.

Mary K. Hastye, executive assistant in the accounting department and Barbara B. Miller, administrative support specialist in the budget office have retired with 34 years of service. Bonita Winborne Richardson, university library specialist, retired with 32 years of service to the university.

Gwen W. Ghent, business and technical analyst in the department of information systems, Dr. Mark Kiel, professor and vice chancellor of university advancement, Beverly J. Wallace, director of Upward Bound have served the university for 31 years while Beverly McLeod, administrative support specialist in the school of graduate studies and the late Ada Madkins, an administrative support specialist in the comptroller’s office have 30 years of service to the university.

Dr. Nita M. Dewberry, associate professor and associate dean in the liberal studies department has 28 years of service. Michael L. Banks, building environmental services technician in facilities, Geraldine M. Burnett, a counselor for the Ronald McNair Program, William W. Boone, a research operations manager in Agriculture Extension, both have 27 years of service.

Gloria J. Phoenix, a lecturer in the mathematics department and Jean F. Williams, a librarian and assistant professor in Academic Affairs have served the university for 26 years while Dr. Peter Rojeski, a professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering served the university for 25 years.

Annette Shaird Douglas, administrative support associate in aerospace studies for Air Force ROTC, Dr. Marihelen Kamp Glass, a professor of natural resources and environmental design and Landa W. Peterkin, an administrative support associate in the school of education all retired with 23 years of service.

Dr. Gloria Palma, associate professor of human performance and leisure studies served the university for 22 years, while Delores F. Bratcher, an administrative support associate for Agribusiness Economics, Bonita G. Cathey, an administrative support associate for enrollment management and Doris F. Mitchell, associate dean of library services and an associate professor all served A&T for 20 years.

Ellen Alston, an administrative support specialist and Christine Manning, administrative support specialist in the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences both retired with 19 years of service and Clinton Gillispie, a facilities maintenance technician retired with 18. Delacy L. Owens a building and environmental services technician retired with 16 years of service and Dr. Vestel B. Shirley, an adjunct assistant professor with 15.

Rosalyn H. Marhatta, a technology support specialist in facilities served the university for 13 years and Oyatoki Y. O’Kunwale, an administrative support associate for the department of police and safety served for 12 years. Dr. Ann B. Mayfield-Clarke, an associate professor of journalism and mass communication retired with nine years of service, Calvin J. Bonaparte, assistant vice chancellor of network and communications served for eight years, Patricia Cage-Bibbs, head women’s basketball coach served the university for seven years while Edwin J. Chandler, building and environmental supervisor and Dr. Rosemarie Vardell, assistant professor of human environment and family sciences retired after six years. Paul Jankovic, a maintenance technician and Kenneth Washington, a building and environmental technician have both served the university for five years.
