Jade Jenkins, a senior secondary education student will commence on Saturday, Dec. 14 with a perfect grade point average of 4.0 from North Carolina A&T State University.
Jenkins is from Mitchellville, M.D. and her academic concentration was in mathematics education.
While at N.C. A&T Jenkins was an Alumni Scholarship recipient and a member of the North Carolina Teachers of Mathematics, Mathematics Association of America, Student North Carolina Association of Educators organizations. She was also a member of Metro Aggies and a Freshman Honors Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society member.
In her spare time, Jenkins worked at the university as a tutor and a teacher’s assistant.
“That experience alone has helped me to become a better teacher. It’s helped me to hone my skills,” she said.
In the future Jenkins plans to study Spanish through a Spanish emerging program and then pursue a master’s degree in education policy and evaluation at the University of California, Berkeley.
Her ultimate career goal is to fix failing school systems and schools.
“I am very passionate about education especially for low-income students,” she said.
