The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development at North Carolina A&T State University is sponsoring the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) Learning System®, a 10-week certification examination review course, Tuesdays, Feb. 26-April 30, 6– 9:30 p.m.
The course is designed to help human resources managers and staff prepare for the certification examination that leads to the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). HR professionals needing recertification and HR practitioners seeking professional development to further their careers also will benefit from this course.
The SHRM Learning System® includes six modules covering topics that are most relevant to today’s HR professionals and matches the HR Certification Institute body of knowledge on which the PHR/SPHR exams are based. The six modules are Strategic Management, Workforce Planning and Employment, Human Resource Development, Total Rewards, Employee and Labor Relations, and Risk Management.
Andrea West (SPHR), manager for corporate compensation with Novant Health in Winston-Salem, will instruct the class. West oversees pay practices and compensation for nearly 27,000 employees at hospitals in three states. She also supervises a staff of eight analysts and compensation specialists.
Continuing Education Units (CEU), a nationally recognized standard of measure for non-credit learning activities, will be awarded for successful course completion.
