A&T to Celebrate National Engineers Week

The College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University will celebrate National Engineers Week Feb. 18–22. More than 1,700 undergraduate and graduate engineering students will participate in the week-long event themed, “Celebrate Awesome.”

The week’s activities include: Energy Day, research showcases, professional development workshops, the annual Engineers Week Awards banquet and the annual spring career fair. There are activities for students and teachers in grades K-12, college students, faculty, staff, engineering professionals and corporate partners.

The K-12 activities are expected to bring more than 1,000 middle and high school students to campus for pre-college initiatives. Students will participate in hands-on engineering activities. The opening ceremony will commence noon, Monday, Feb. 18 in the McNair Hall Auditorium.
The week will culminate with the Order of Engineers Ceremony, as graduating seniors take the “Oath of Engineering.”

National Engineers Week is observed each February to highlight the contributions engineering has made to society. The celebration is set to coincide with the birthday of President George Washington, the nation’s first engineer.
