Lyceum Series Presents Russian National Ballet Theatre

North Carolina A&T State University Lyceum Series presents world renowned Russian National Ballet Theatre Tuesday, April 23, 7:30 p.m., at the Carolina Theatre Auditorium in downtown Greensboro. The dance company was founded in the late 1980s during the transitional period called “Perestroika” the restructuring of the Soviet political and economic system. This transitional period in Russian history mandated a political stance and public conversations about human rights. As part of this movement, many dancers and choreographers of excellence within the Soviet Union representing several dance companies gathered their talents, courage and combined voices to express a newly discovered creative freedom.

“Having the Russian Ballet Theatre will certainly bring an international flair to our University ,” said Gregory Horton, chair of the Lyceum Committee. “This group speaks volumes to the Lyceum’s core mission, which is to bring provocative and culturally diverse acts to our students, faculty and surrounding community. This expands our desire to evoke worldly thinking and extend beyond the normal array of educational programs offered at the university to perpetuate and enhance our classroom learning.”

Tickets can be purchased at the A&T Ticket Office: free for students with an A&T ID, $5 for faculty and staff with A&T ID, and $20 general admission. Transportation will be provided for A&T students by calling the Memorial Student Union at 336-334-7571.
