The first North Carolina A&T State University College of Engineering Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, in McNair Auditorium. Mir Imran, chairman and CEO of InCube Labs, will be the keynote speaker for the event. His topic will be Innovations in Bioengineering: From concept to bench to bedside.”
The Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series brings nationally recognized leaders to the College of Engineering to illuminate topics in the STEM fields that produce innovations and advance research for the region and the world.
" The speakers of this exciting series were selected because of the relevance of their areas of expertise to faculty, students, and professionals from multiple disciplines within North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and throughout the greater Piedmont Triad area,” said Dr. Robin N. Coger, dean of the College of Engineering. “We sincerely hope our friends, neighbors ,and colleagues will join us for the seminars, and thus participate in the exchange of ideas that this Distinguished Speaker Series was designed to inspire."
Imran is an accomplished medical innovator, entrepreneur and venture capitalist, who has founded more than 20 life sciences companies and holds over 200 patents. Many of Imran’s innovations have resulted in new standards of care, including the first FDA-approved automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator.
He created Imran InCube Labs’ a world-class team with expertise across a range of disciplines: pharmacology and physiology, protein and polymer chemistry, tissue engineering, mechanical engineering and material science, electronics and software, industrial design, clinical development and manufacturing.
