As N.C. A&T enters its fourth week as the Tom Joyner School of the Month
for October, we are calling on all Aggies and friends to join us for a big
Homecoming push that will increase donations for student scholarships
through this campaign.

As the October School of the Month, the Tom Joyner Foundation selects a
male student each week with a grade point average of at least 3.5 to
receive a $1,500 Hercules scholarship. The students who are selected
demonstrate campus leadership and community involvement. The most recent Hercules Scholar recipient is electrical engineering student Robert
Christian Ford.

Ford, a junior and a resident of Chesterfield, Va., minors in philosophy
and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.85. He holds leadership
positions in the National Society of Black Engineers and the Institute of
Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Ford’s career goals include earning a PhD and becoming an electrical
engineer. He also plans to start or be involved in a business to help
others better themselves through career development.

“I realize that I am blessed to have a father who is the most influential
person in my life and who has helped me tremendously,” he said. “A quote that I learned from my father and try to live by is, let each of you look
out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

As the Tom Joyner School of the Month for October 2013, the university
partners with the foundation to raise funds for student scholarships which are paid directly to the recipient’s school to help offset their college
expenses.
