The 2013-14 academic year is in full swing here at North Carolina A&T State University. On opening day, held in mid-August, Chancellor Harold L. Martin, Sr. energized the Aggie community by sharing his vision for the year.
Last year North Carolina A&T saw great success. Students were challenged to compete and perform on international and national stages and they achieved high in academics, athletics, research and more. The university had its very first Fulbright and Barry Goldwater scholars, established the GlaxoSmithKline STEM Center and the Center for Outreach in Aging and secured a record breaking stint in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
As N.C. A&T continues to embark on its preeminent journey Martin highlighted his primary focus —A&T students.
“We must make student success our top priority,” he said. “As we have traditionally done, we must take our students from where they are and be innovative in our methods in order to stimulate their intellectual curiosity, personal and professional development and preparation for gainful employment upon graduation.”
Martin also challenged A&T to increase community engagement, improve career development, create more efficient university processes and enhance the overall access to our growing academic programs. |
