North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University capped the U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 best online graduate programs computer information technology list.
The 15 colleges and universities that made the list were evaluated by peer assessment, total enrollment, tuition, average undergraduate GPA, acceptance rate, retention rate and other factors which composed the total score.
North Carolina A&T maintained the No. 15 rank for the online IT program in the best online programs 2013 edition.
"I am very pleased to note the continuing national recognition of North Carolina A&T State University's master of science program in information technology, which is primarily due to the high quality faculty serving the program and the university's focus on student success," said Sanjiv Sarin, dean of the graduate school.
The Computer Systems Technology program started in 2007-2008 and has been led by professor and department chair Clay Gloster since January 2010.
“It’s an outstanding program (and) one of the bragging points of our department,” Gloster said. Since reporting the program to U.S. News & World Report, North Carolina A&T has been featured and improved its rank from the No. 18 position to No. 15.
Graduates of the program go on to work with major companies such as John Deere, IBM, Cisco, First Citizens Bank and more—many of which will visit North Carolina A&T on Extreme IT Day scheduled for Tuesday, March 18.
He also gave credit to assistant professor Rajeev Agrawal, assistant professor and graduate program coordinator and Li-Shang Tsay, co-graduate program coordinator, for the success of the program.
As the demand for IT professionals grows, the School of Technology will continue to provide opportunities for students that seek careers in those areas by expanding and offering competitive on-campus and online programs.
