The Amen Corner by James Baldwin

Show dates are: April 3 - 6 & April 10 – 13, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. The Amen Corner by James Baldwin takes place after giving a fiery Sunday morning sermon, when Pastor Margaret is confronted by the arrival of her long estranged husband, Luke, who collapses from illness shortly thereafter. On his deathbed, Luke declares to Margaret that he has always loved her, and that she shouldn’t have left him. Finally, Margaret’s congregation decides to oust her, based on their perception that she unjustly ruined her own family in the name of religion. Only after losing everything, her son, husband and congregation, does she finally realize that she should not have used religion as an excuse to escape the struggles of life and love, but that ‘‘To love the Lord is to love all His children—all of them, everyone!—and suffer with them and rejoice with them and never count the cost!’’ The event will be held in the Paul Robeson Theatre.

Tickets are: general admission - $15 (plus tax); senior citizens - $10 (plus tax); non-A&T students - $10 (plus tax); and A&T students FREE with Aggie One Card.
