Jenkins Named Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Undergraduate Programs

Scott Jenkins has been named vice provost for academic affairs and undergraduate programs at North Carolina A&T State University, effective April 1.

The vice provost for academic affairs and undergraduate programs reports to the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs to provide strong academic and administrative leadership.

Jenkins came to N.C. A&T in March 2010 and previously served as the assistant vice chancellor for institutional research. He has also served as the interim chief academic officer and associate academic officer at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts,

Jenkins has held several administrative roles in the UNC General Administration where he was involved with academic planning, data collection for both state and federal reporting, and providing data analysis for decision-making on policy and procedures.

“I’m looking forward to working with everyone in my new role and helping to move the university forward toward student success,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a master’s of science in microbiology and immunology from Wright State University and a PhD from Wake Forest University in cancer biology.

The vice provost has direct oversight responsibility for pre-collegiate and undergraduate study, including K-12 Engagement, Pre-Collegiate Transition, Center for Academic Excellence, International Programs, Honors Program, Army and Air Force ROTC, and Title III HBCU and HBGI Grants. The vice provost exercises administrative oversight for the university’s two campus-based public high schools, chairs the Provost Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics and serves as an ex-officio member of the A&T Faculty Senate to support appropriate development, implementation, and compliance with undergraduate academic policies and general education requirements.
