71 Student Athletes Named to Commissioner's All-Academic Team

Seventy-one North Carolina A&T student-athletes were named to the 2014 Commissioner’s All-Academic Team announced on Tuesday by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

It is the most representation A&T has had on the list in 11 years.

The team which features 1,108 student-athletes from the conference’s 13 member institutions recognizes sophomores, juniors, and seniors who achieved academic excellence with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2013-14 school year.

“I am excited to highlight the 1,108 student-athletes who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2013-14 academic school year,” said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. “I would like to commend the administrators, athletic academic support staff and personnel, coaches, institutions, and parents for their contributions to the academic success of these student-athletes.”

Forty-nine female athletes represented A&T on the 2014 All-Academic team, which was headed by cheerleading with 10 student-athletes, followed by softball with nine. Twenty-two male athletes were named to the team with football contributing nine athletes ahead of baseball with eight.
