University Releases Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

N.C. A&T State University released the 2014 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report this week, in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. Under federal law, all universities receiving federal student aid are required to produce and make available policy safety policy statements and statistics about campus crime. The annual report is due on Oct. 1.

“The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors are always our primary concern,” said Chief Glenn C. Newell of the University Police Department. “This report provides our community with helpful information about our safety and emergency policies as well as ways to report an incident and pertinent crime statistics,” he added.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. It also contains information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by North Carolina A&T State Uniersity; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

“We welcome all members of our university and our neighboring community to read the report and join us in our efforts to provide a safe campus,” he said.

The report is available here. If you would like to receive a hard copy of the 2014 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, stop by the University Police Department, Ward Hall, 406 Laurel Street. You may also request that a copy be mailed to you by calling 336-334-7128.
