A&T is No. 1 in Black College Football Polls

North Carolina A&T State University, winners of three straight, is now the No. 1 team in black college football.

In all three black college polls released Monday, the Aggies took over the top spot after Saturday games saw Bethune-Cookman lose to S.C. State 20-14 and N. C. A&T defeat Florida A&M 40-21 at Aggie Stadium for homecoming.

The Aggies (7-2, 4-1 MEAC) received 23 first-place votes in the Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College Football Poll with Alcorn State (7-2) ranked second with six first-place votes. Bethune-Cookman (6-2) dropped to third and Winston-Salem State (7-1) had the other first-place and was ranked fourth. WSSU was followed by Grambling State (5-3), S.C. State (5-3), Tuskegee (6-2), Virginia State (6-2) and
Albany State (5-2).

Both BOXTOROW HBCU polls had A&T at No. 1. The Aggies received 14 first-place votes in the coaches’ poll and 13 first-place votes in the media poll. The Press Box to Press Row Radio Show hosted by Donal Ware is syndicated on A&T’s campus radio station, WNAA 90.1 FM on Saturday mornings 9–10.

The Heritage Sports Radio Network Black College Football Poll has A&T No. 1 with 10 first-place votes.

The Aggies are in middle of a heated conference race in the MEAC. There are six teams with only one loss in the conference. The Aggies are off this week before playing Morgan State 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, at Aggie Stadium.
