The North Carolina A&T women’s bowling team continues to excel as junior Emily Strombeck and sophomore MacKenzie Robinson received National Tenpin Coaches Association All-American honors.
Strombeck, a two-time All-American, was named to the third team after being recognized as an honorable mention last year. Robinson was selected as an honorable mention. The honors marked the first time that two Aggies were named as All-Americans in the same year.
“Both young ladies have been solid for us all year,” head coach James Williams said. “It’s great to see the ladies improve over last year and have those efforts recognized by the coaches association.”
Both Strombeck and Robinson were first-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference selections with Strombeck repeating as the Bowler of the Year.
Strombeck led the Aggies with a 207.3 average throughout the season. The Durham native pinned a career-high 269 twice during the year at the final two MEAC meets. She will also be competing at the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championship on April 15.
Robinson put together an average of 192.2 on the lanes and had her best performance at the last conference meet where she pinned an average of 221 and rolled a career-best 259.
This season the Aggies (70-37 overall) reached their highest ranking in program history with a rank of 10th in the NTCA poll. A&T also won its first MEAC southern division title under Williams since winning it in 2005-06.
A&T has another chance to appear on the national stage at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship this week in Wichita, Kansas. |
