Black College Hall of Fame Selects Two Aggies

Two Aggies are among the 2015 class of inductees to the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame.

Janice Howroyd, founder and CEO of the ACT-1 Group, was honored in the business category. ACT-1 Group provides staffing, human resources and management solutions to Fortune 500 companies in many industries from its headquarters in Los Angeles and offices throughout the United States. Howroyd also is a member of the N.C. A&T Board of Trustees.

Clara Adams-Ender was honored in the government category. Adams-Ender is a retired U.S. Army brigadier general who served as chief of nursing at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, chief of the Army Nursing Corps and commanding officer of Fort Belvoir.

The inductees will be honored during the 30th annual Alumni Hall of Fame Weekend in Atlanta, Sept. 23-27.

This year's complete list of honorees:

Business: Janice Howroyd, founder/CEO, ACT-1 Group, North Carolina A&T State University

Civil Rights: The Honorable David Dinkins, New York City's only African American mayor, Howard University

Community Service: Elisabeth Omilami, executive director, Hosea Feed the Hungry, Hampton University

Education: Dr. Robert Franklin, former president, Morehouse College & Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College

Faith and Theology: Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr., pastor emeritus, Olivet Baptist Church of Cleveland, Morehouse College

Government: Brig. Gen. Clara Adams-Ender, first African American chief of nursing at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, North Carolina A&T State University

Industry: John Thompson, independent chairman, Microsoft Corporation, Florida A&M University

Law: Honorable Tommie Colbert, Sr., first African American chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Kentucky State University

Medicine: Dr. Regina Benjamin, 18th U.S. surgeon general, Xavier University and Morehouse School of Medicine

Science: Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi, astrophysicist/inventor, Tougaloo College

Lifetime Achievement: Ada Anderson, philanthropist, Huston-Tillotson University

Chairman's Award: Michael Smith, manager, Hyatt Regency New Orleans, Winston-Salem State University
