The School of Technology at North Carolina A&T State University presented Technology Week March 14-18. This year’s theme was “Technology: Bringing it all Together.”
The event drew crowds of high school, community college, undergraduate and graduate students as well as the university community and corporate partners throughout the full week of events.
Technology Week’s purpose is to educate, inform and display the technology discipline as a possible career. The event allowed interested students and members of the university community to tour the School of Technology and view related demonstrations.
On Wednesday, March 16, the seventh annual Extreme IT Day introduced high school and college students to enterprise computing technologies. Students had the opportunity to participate in hands-on exercises and challenges as well as interact with professionals from diverse corporations. Corporate participants included IBM, Red Hat, BB&T, Clear Blade, IT-ology, John Deere, Cisco, Dell, Fidelity and others.
New this year was the Women in Technology Luncheon for high school and community college students. The luncheon featured Dr. Edward B. Fort, chancellor emeritus and professor of Leadership Studies, as the guest speaker.
Each day of the event was devoted to a specific discipline including, Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety and Geomatics, Electronics Technology/Information Technology, Graphics Communication Systems, Applied Engineering Technology and Motorsports. Various demonstrations and tours were also conducted. |
