| Within just two weeks since the opening of the Union Square Campus, North Carolina A&T State University performed the campus’ first medical/nursing simulation on, Aug. 24. Using $80,000 life-like patient mannequins, N.C. A&T nursing students were able to utilize their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. The virtual reality technology connected to the mannequins enables students to learn and make mistakes in a live environment. The mannequins are able to replicate real human features, attributes and vitals such as blood pressure, heart rate and beat, and mimic various health issues. Union Square Campus is a pioneering national model that brings together students, faculty and professionals across three neighboring institutions of higher education and one healthcare system including the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford Technical Community College and Cone Health as well as N.C. A&T for collaborative instruction, learning and funding. |
