Rashid and Kimball to Lead the Inaugural N.C. A&T Aggie Alumni National Convention

Alumni from North Carolina A&T State University can now look forward to an opportunity outside of homecoming to reunite by attending the inaugural N.C. A&T Aggie Alumni National Convention. The national convention will take place June 6-10, 2018, at The Westin Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. Leading the charge for Aggies to assemble at the national convention are two familiar faces from Aggieland – Dr. Judy Rashid ’74, ’91, convention chair and former dean of students, and Wayne Kimball ’11, convention co-chair and former SGA president.

Rashid and Kimball’s unique leadership styles have been called upon to charge Aggies to flood the city of Atlanta in June 2018. The two bring an innovative and rich energy to the leadership team of more than 100 volunteers who are working relentlessly to execute the national convention. The 2018 convention will have a theme for each day: Thursday: Assemble and Takeover; Friday: Preparing for Preeminence; Saturday: AGGIES DO and Sunday: No Steps Backward.

Rashid comes to the table with 25 years of experience as a student affairs professional with N.C. A&T. Her leadership style teaches others how to develop into leaders by being a great follower. In 2014, she retired as the associate vice chancellor of student affairs/dean of students. She is now the vice chair of the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association, Inc. She believes that an “Aggie in the know is a giving Aggie.”

Kimball offers the leadership team an innovative approach that is engaging and motivates people to perform at their highest ability. He is currently the vice president of growth strategy for The ACT-1 Group and a board member for the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association, Inc. He believes with the progressiveness of N.C. A&T and the vision of Preeminence 2020: Embracing Our Past, Creating Our Future, that “there’s no better time in history to be an Aggie.”

Alumni and friends who register for the national convention can expect to experience a multi-generational connectivity between Aggies, an opportunity to be enriched with information, and provided the tools and resources to be engaged in their communities and the university. The convention will encompass workshops facilitated by highly sought after speakers and presenters, keynote addresses from notable alumni and guests, and special events such as the gala, scholarship and awards reception.

Without the gifts of alumni and friends, N.C. A&T would not be the exceptional institution it is today.
