Pamela McCorkle Buncum: The Inaugural N.C. A&T Aggie Alumni National Convention is a “Call to Action” for All Alumni

Pamela McCorkle Buncum ‘81, board chair of the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association, Inc., is thrilled at the excitement in the air for the inaugural N.C. A&T Aggie Alumni National Convention. The national convention will take place June 6 – 10, at The Westin Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. She believes with all of the hard work being put into this momentous event, it is important for Aggies to step up to the call and help the Alumni Association flood the city of Atlanta in full support.

As a former member of the board of trustees for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and former SGA president, Buncum’s commitment to her alma mater and the alumni family has been undeniable and unwavering. She credits her parents for being influential in her work ethic and passion to serve others. She believes there is always work to do and she is committed more than ever to show others the way to lead.

The first national convention is being led by Dr. Judy Rashid ’74, ’91, vice chair of the Alumni Association board of directors, and Wayne Kimball, Jr. ’11, board member, along with 30 planning committee members – all Aggies.

“It takes true dedication, time and toll to pull off a convention of this size, and I am excited to say we have talented alumni to make it happen,” said Buncum. “This opportunity makes me hopeful because when it’s time to pass the torch, there are great leaders ready to lead the charge.”

Alumni and friends who register for the national convention can expect to experience a multi-generational connectivity between Aggies, an opportunity to be enriched with information, and provided the tools and resources to be engaged in their communities and the university. The convention will encompass workshops facilitated by highly sought after speakers and presenters, keynote addresses from notable alumni and guests, and special events such as the scholarship and awards gala.

Early bird registration for the N.C. A&T Aggie Alumni National Convention ends on Jan. 31, and alumni are encouraged to take advantage of the discounted fee. To register today, view the convention schedule or to get involved as a volunteer, please go to www.ncatalumniconvention.com.
