Letter to All Aggie Alumni from Teresa Davis
Fellow Aggies,
Aggie Born, Aggie Bred
Aggie Pride Worldwide!
I’m so glad I go to A&T!
Give me that good ‘ol Aggie Spirit!
These are more than mere words to us. These words are the soul of us.
There is no denying that 2020 has taken us down a road that most of us have never seen or experienced. We have had to embrace a strong support network to get us through. We have found ways to connect while separated. We have unified among the division. We have bonded…the Aggie Way!
Nothing has risen to the level of concern prompted by the pandemic. The clearing of campus in a short amount of time left our heads spinning. The recognition of the 2020 graduating class converted to an unprecedented online celebration. The cancellation of in-person events – including the 2020 edition of “The Greatest Homecoming on Earth” – will leave an indelible void in our annual fellowshipping tradition.
However, the response from the Aggie community has been tremendous in the wake of all of the uncertainty. The leadership, faculty and staff of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has orchestrated a complicated shift to hybrid instructional and operational models for the fall semester. Our students are bravely navigating the new realities of social distancing and online learning. And the alumni are rallying behind their alma mater – offering encouragement, support and funding in these uncertain times because that’s what Aggies DO!
And in anticipation of better days that will come, we will continue to manage through and stand strong during these troubling times. We will engage with our 65,000+ alumni in modified-traditional and new ways…that will include more virtual opportunities. We will introduce the new Advisory Council on Alumni Relations. We will bring the university to you highlighting research, programming, student successes, the physical transformation of the campus, the university’s general progress through the pandemic and much more. Stay tuned!
I have never been more proud of my Aggie Family! Thanks to each and every one of you for all that you do in letting the world know what Aggie Pride is all about!
Stay safe. Wash your hands. Wear your A&T masks. Wait six-feet apart.
With Aggie Love, Pride and Power,
Teresa M. Davis ‘89
