N.C. A&T Honda Campus All-Stars Team Ready to Compete

Four North Carolina A&T State University students will travel cross country to represent the Aggies in the Honda Campus All-Stars Challenge quiz bowl championship March 30-April 4.

This year’s team is made up of three juniors and one senior. The members are:

• Franklin Foster, captain, junior, Psychology major
• Mitchell Brown, senior, Economics major
• Macey Morgan, junior, Computer Science major
• Megan Morgan, junior, Computer Science major

The competition hosts 48 teams from colleges and universities around the country. Teams are broken down into eight divisions and play bracket style until there is a winner. The winner of the championship earns a
$50, 000 grant from Honda for their respective school. Cash prizes are also awarded to second-eighth place teams.

Last year’s quiz bowl team made it to the first round of the playoffs only to lose to the team that went on to win the championship.

While this team has quiz bowl experience, organizers have changed the format of the competition this year and that puts every team on a level playing field, Foster said.

This year, the competition is in the style of Jeopardy! and each team member will have to tackle a round of play alone. In previous years, any team member could answer any question. The Ultimate Challenge round is rapid fire format and allows for team play.
