Dr. John Shelton
N.C. A&T Alum Awarded U.S. Dept. of Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship

North Carolina A&T State University graduate Dr. John Shelton, has been awarded a prestigious Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) Postdoctoral Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Energy. He will conduct his postdoctoral research at Carnegie Mellon University and the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), both in Pittsburgh, Penn.

Shelton earned both his bachelors and masters degrees from N.C. A&T in 2000 and 2005, respectively. He was one of 20 recipients this year. EERE fellows will receive annual stipends of $65,000, relocation expenses, health insurance coverage and a research allowance for two years.

The goal of the EERE Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is to develop the next generation of scientific leaders in energy efficiency and renewable energy by attracting the best scientists and engineers to pursue breakthrough technologies in a highly prestigious postdoctoral research program. EERE postdoctoral fellowships offer unique research opportunities to talented Ph.D. recipients to engage in innovative research at universities, national laboratories, and other research facilities that are conducting applied research in support of EERE.
