A&T Names Miller Vice Chancellor for Advancement

North Carolina A&T State University Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. has appointed Barbara Miller as vice chancellor for university advancement, effective July. Miller replaces Robert Pompey, vice chancellor for business and finance, who served during the interim.

“Barbara Miller is a successful fundraiser and professional leader who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the advancement field.  She has the vision, expertise and creativity to strengthen overall fund raising and friend raising for the university,” said Martin.

Miller has served as an assistant vice president of development at Auburn University since 2003.  During her tenure with Auburn, the university successfully raised $600 million for their capital campaign, exceeding their $500 million goal. She had oversight for seven colleges/units and 22 professional staff during the campaign.

Prior to working at Auburn, Miller was an associate director of gift planning at The College of William and Mary, where she raised more than $6 million and increased Legacy membership by 110 percent. Before that, she served as director of corporate and foundation relations/supervisor of sustained giving and endowments for Norfolk State University, where she co-wrote proposals to raise over $3.2 million.

Miller’s career history also includes serving as director of development for Georgia State University and assistant director of capital gifts for the University of Alabama.

Miller earned her B.A. in psychology and sociology from Southwest Baptist University, M.A. in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and J.D. from Antioch School of Law.
