Best Social Work Programs.com released its list of 50 Most Affordable Accredited MSW (master of social work) Programs in the East and ranked the Joint MSW (JMSW) program at North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as No. 13.
With data from the National Center for Education Statistics, Best Social Work Programs.com selected schools and colleges from the New England, Mid-Atlantic and southeastern states that are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The schools and colleges with the lowest published graduate tuition and fees were selected.
“It is encouraging to have the Joint MSW program ranked among the most affordable in the East,” said Provost Joe B. Whitehead. “We strive daily to create enriching and affordable learning opportunities for our students that position them for success after graduation.”
The JMSW Program is one of 10 universities ranked from the University of North Carolina System. The list also includes North Carolina State at No. 31, Appalachian State at No. 16, UNC-Charlotte at No. 15, Western Carolina at No. 14, UNC-Wilmington at No. 10, East Carolina at No. 9, North Carolina Central at No. 8, UNC-Pembroke at No. 6 and Fayetteville State at No. 3.
JMSW admitted the first graduate class in August 1997, received initial accreditation in 2000 and has maintained it since. Classes are held on both campuses with faculty from both universities teaching.
The program’s mission focuses on multiculturalism and diversity while understanding the specific needs of vulnerable populations and groups. |
